@UweStenderPhD First person or third? And does genre make a difference? I listened to one agent on a podcast who said she never considers first person in adult manuscripts. Of course, I heard this after I submitted a first-person MS to her. 😃😄😁Whatever your novel requires. Whatever drives you. It does not matter. Everybody's taste is different. Don't worry about one singular agent's opinion (including mine). It's irrelevant. It's only relevant IF a HUGE majority of agents hold the same opinion. Forget about that agent.

@UweStenderPhD What about a query makes you want to request pages? Overall concept? Voice? Something else? You are right on: Concept and/or voice. In nonfiction, it would be celebrity or platform.

@UweStenderPhD What do you think about PitchWars? Would you consider a PitchWar project over slush?I think PitchWars is great. However, I am no longer able to participate in it due to time constraints. BUT, I am ALWAYS open to submissions, regardless of PitchWars or any of the other fantastic online contests. So query me. *all the other #Teamtriada agents participate.*

@UweStenderPhD @jenichappelle Thanks for doing this! How do you choose between requesting a full and requesting a partial if you like a submission?
I personally NEVER request a partial, IF I request, I ALWAYS request a full.

@UweStenderPhD When submitting a series, should there be a synopsis for each book in the series or should there be one synopsis that covers the entire story arc? Also, do you want spoilers or no?Not necessarily, but IF you have all of that, that is awesome. I personally don't mind spoilers, but that may be a NO NO for others.

@UweStenderPhD With a lot of YA authors heading to MG, do you predict that will become as oversaturated as YA soon?Likely, but again, I am the wrong person to ask. I rep what I love.

@UweStenderPhD I know that agencies vary on this point - if a writer submits to you and you pass, is it acceptable to query others at your agency? Or do you share submissions? In our case, go to the next Triada US agent.

@UweStenderPhD If you come from a Non-American English speaking country, should you Americanize your spelling for querying? In my opinion IF it is grammatically correct in either/or US or UK English, it is fine.

@UweStenderPhD How long is typically too long of a wait to hear back from an agent? Is a gentle inquiry welcome or unprofessional?Give people 14 weeks, after that they ought to be open to a nudge. IF they are disrespectful to you because of a gentle nudge, YOU should not want to work with them anyway. They may not have had a chance to consider yet, but they should not be CRANKY about a nudge.

@UweStenderPhD Do you have any plans to close temporarily for submissions anytime soon?I will NEVER close to submissions. That is how I started my business, and I will die on that hill.

@UweStenderPhD If you are preparing to write a cookbook, do you write it first and query, or write a proposal first and query that? (I know about fiction, but this cookbook thing for my mom has me totally lost lol)Anything non fiction will work on a detailed proposal with sample chapters.

@UweStenderPhD What is your take on the discussion re the need for more books for older MG/Young YA? How hard are they to sell? Is there a market?I have no opinion. I take on what I love (I am 100% gut feeling, and don't follow trends). IF that is a real discussion, then I am sure they're is an emerging trend. But I am the wrong guy to ask.

@UweStenderPhD Ahhh hope I get this in in time!! What’re your thoughts on unreliable narration, and the market for thriller/mystery’s of that ilk ?? #askagentIf it is very well done, it should work. There seems to be a bit of oversaturation on that arena, but brilliance will win out.

@UweStenderPhD If I have a project I want to e-pub under a pen name because I don't think trad pub has any interest, will it hurt my chances of getting an agent later with a different MS? #askagentNot at all.

@UweStenderPhD Have you ever reconsidered a manuscript that you found interesting but rejected? What’s your advice to writers who go back out on the query trail after a big edit that responds to the feedback from the last round, with new scenes, but same characters and world? THANKS! #askagentYes, I have. I would be upfront and tell them what you changed, and mention what they said in regards to their rejection. Some will definitely give you a second chance, some may not, but additionally there are a lot of respectable agents around.
