#querytip Telling me your project is ready for submission (to editors) in your query letter signals to me that you aren't willing to do more editorial work on it. I'm an editorial agent, so this is a bad sign.

Quick #querytip, given a recent experience. When you receive an offer of rep, it's actually good practice to alert ALL agents who have the query, not just those who have the full. You do not need to give all the agents an opportunity to read, you can simply withdraw the query.

Query Tip: You don't have to respond back to an agent if they pass on your work. But if you do respond, a nasty email will not help you. Agents keep records and if you query us again with another project, we will remember.

Ex: sometimes folks send from their work email, to later leave the job. Then there's no real way for us to get in contact.

Manuscript Word Count. The golden number is 85K to 90K words for adult books. Digital work is often shorter. Science fiction and Fantasy may go up to 120K. Genres for younger readers like YA MG etc get shorter as the reader gets younger. #Querytip #WritingCommunity @CorvisieroLit
