Me, reading a query that starts enticingly... until the author refers to their own work as a "masterpiece". #querytip There's a fine line between a hard sell and an unappealing ego reveal.

#pubtip: When agents ask for a partial or full, please don't send a PDF. Even at this initial stage, some agents may want to add comments to the actual manuscript and track changes. That one of the reasons most agents prefer Word docs.

Don't start your query letter with "Your profile indicates that you are interested in..." I know what my profile says. Instead, let me know what elements you think I (specifically) will love! #querytip
