Madhurima_Sappatti @MSappatti

How long should we follow up with an agent regarding a response on a submitted query before moving on to another agent/publishing house? #askagent
Replying to @MSappatti

Most agents will be fine with you querying more than one at once. We're getting a lot of submissions right now, so our reading time is pretty lengthy, but no body minds a gentle nudge at six to eight weeks. #askagent

MJ, The Struggling Writer @StrugglingMJ

Is there a cliche you see over and over again in the initial pages that turns you off a submission? I.e. exposition
#askagent
Replying to @StrugglingMJ

I would say exposition-dumps are very common, especially in fantasy novels, and I'd rather the information came through organically in dialogue or action #askagent

Ben Edge @bnedge

#AskAgent If you were picked up by as a debut author, how much press would you be asked to do? I.E. Interviews, TV, Radio, etc
Replying to @bnedge

This depends a lot on the publisher, and also on the book. If there is a central theme to that that lends itself to press features, you might be asked to do a lot. #askagent

@LovelessAge @emilyinkpen No, it's fine. We recommend it. Nothing gets us reading a submission faster than knowing another agent is keen! #askagent
Replying to @julietpickering

I absolutely agree with this. Agents will always have slightly too much to read so it is good to know if anything needs to be read particularly urgently.

Replying to @bnedge

it's SO rare to get on TV and radio as a debut, so unlikely to be asked (but if you were... do it!). Publicity is always a conversation about what the author can and can't do depending on their dayjob etc #askagent

Kathryn A Whitfield @Whit_Writes

If a title needs to be changed, how do you go about brainstorming titles? And how do you know when you have 'the one'? #askagent
Replying to @Whit_Writes

Keep thinking until you have something that sounds zingy enough for submissions. Once you have an agent they will help, your eventual publisher too. Don't worry too much. I love brainstorming titles. #AskAgent

Núria Bonet @Nuschmeichs

How much interest is there in niche local history non-fiction books? #askagent
Replying to @Nuschmeichs

Sometimes it could be better for authors to go to specialist local history publishers. However, I would suggest send it in to my colleague @JustinNashLit for a look since "niche" might mean "quirky but actually mainstream". #AskAgent
