#TeamCorvisiero what is the best way for an author to improve/grow if the feedback they're getting is "this just wasn't for me" #AskAgentWorking with critique partners or joining a local writing group can always be helpful to straighten your story. #askagent

@CorvisieroLit If agencies have requested fulls and partials, but I've yet to hear back, should I continue sending out additional query letters or just be patient? #askagent #teamcorvisiero #CorvisierolitKeep your options open. Keep querying agents that seem to be a good fit for you. Waiting can be tough, but hopefully that interest will result in an offer of rep. #askagent

Does the size of a writer's social media platform impact an agent's decision to rep?#askagent
Platform really matters for a nonfiction writer. However, if you have followers and a platform, this is very helpful when marketing a fiction comes into play. #askagent

@CorvisieroLit If an author was to submit to your agency from the UK, would their British English differences impact their submission? For example, the UK's single speech mark use ('), as opposed to the double speech marks used in American English (")? #AskAgent #CorvisieroLit
Nope! Not at all! #askagent @CorvisieroLit

@hannahvanvels #askagentWould an agent or publisher frown on a manuscript where a portion of it had previously been published as a short story?
It isn't unheard of for a short story to be turned into a full novel. It may be an issue for some, but it can still work. #askagent @CorvisieroLit

@hannahvanvels #askagentWould an agent or publisher frown on a manuscript where a portion of it had previously been published as a short story?
It really depends on how much of it had been published already. We don't want you to compete against yourself in the market. #askagent @CorvisieroLit

Do agents shy away from new writers who are querying the first book in a planned series?(Asking for a friend... It's me. I'm the friend.)
#askagent pic.twitter.com/OTSRjsW1RD
No we love debut authors. We are always looking for new talent. Tell your friend that when pitching the book they should say that the book is a strong stand alone with series potential. #askagent @CorvisieroLit

What difference does it make to query an agent from the same country or another country? Is it better to query from the same country you live in?#askagent
It doesn't make a difference where your agent is located. A good agent can do their job from anywhere. #askagent @CorvisieroLit
LinhPhamBooks @LinhPhamBooks
@CorvisieroLit I wrote a YA sci-fi romance but notice that comps like Alechia Dow's Sound of the Stars and JLA's Lux series are just listed as YA sci-fi. Is this because YA sci-fi romance isn't a thing? Should I just query it as YA sci-fi? #corvisiero #askagentTypically it is considered Science Fiction with romantic elements, so you can just query it as YA Science Fiction. #askagent

Is querying two different projects to an agent at the same time allowed?#askagent
I would choose one project to query at a time. Certainly choose an agent that may rep both genres you write. #askagent

American agents, can I query you as a Canadian writer? Will the fact that I'm in a different country play into your decision?#askagent
Yep! A lot of agents rep clients around the world! #askagent #CorvisieroLit

I’m hoping it’s okay to ask ?’s though I’m not pitching. Thoughts on querying darker bks at this time? Everyone seems to be asking for upbeat, but I don’t write that. (I’ve tried) Should authors just hold off querying if their themes are darker for a bit? @CorvisieroLit #askagentYes, of course. All Qs welcome. Yes, it's okay to pitch them. Especially if you the agent's submission guidelines don't say anything about not wanting them. Even if we want upbeat, it doesn't mean we won't like yours. :) #askagent @CorvisieroLit

@CorvisieroLit Thanks, y'all! An abandoned young boy with a magical imagination finds a portal in the back of his apartment’s closet. He sees a whole new world over there—one with new parents, a baby brother, and maybe, if they don’t catch him, a new place to call home. #AskAgent #A #LF

@CorvisieroLit #AskAgentRandom Q unrelated to how I'm querying but something just popped into mind recently
when an agent decides to remove something from their MSWL, what happens to the authors they already rep that write in those genres? Or along those dropped interests?
ding @blueshenlung
@CorvisieroLit @hannahvanvels Since finding the right agent is so subjective, what are some tips to help find that fit? #askagentQuery people who you think might be a good fit. Research who you are querying ahead of time. Look at their MSWL, recent sales, their social media, etc. #askagent #corvisierolit twitter.com/blueshenlung/s…

Jane Holland is self-isolating but getting better @janeholland1
@katenashagent @osborne_bella @revpeterlaws I expect many agents, esp those with psych thriller writers looking for publishers, would like to think along those lines. But I suspect publishers will be only too ready to shift focus after this. Psych thrillers have had a long winning streak, but their day must SURELY be done.Doing market analysis right at the moment for the update to our trends survey. Results at the end of the month but I think psychological thrillers continue to do well. #AskAgent

@osborne_bella I am NOT an agent, so forgive me for butting in, but ... I think coronavirus will finally see off the dominance of the psychological thriller. We won't need the thrill of being scared about domestic danger or suburban fear when that's become an everyday reality.I am not sure. @revpeterlaws was explaining something to me about safe-feeling danger or danger you can control which makes some sense to me as to why psychological thrillers have been hugely popular and I think this will continue. #AskAgent

@osborne_bella We are repeating our trends survey which I was going to be presenting end of this month at #SelfPubConf but we will now share online...and there's still time to fill the survey in: surveymonkey.co.uk/r/HYBYNVX #AskAgent (1/2)
But from our prelim market analysis it is certainly escapist and will include genres like fantasy, crime and thrillers of all types, romance of all types and romcom (2/2). #AskAgent
