@UweStenderPhD @kianangu Nice save! What is the weirdest genre mash-up you have ever seen?I don't know. I don't make it through the query of too many mashups.

@UweStenderPhD I'm so glad you're okay!I've seen a lot of author platform talk recently. Do you ever reject queries because the author has a small platform? I know you can't speak for all agents, and I'd never ask for names, but do you know agents who reject based on platform size?
If an agent rejects a novel for lack of platform, they should not be submitted to. In regards to nonfiction, I reject *primarily* due to lack of platform. I need huge platforms in nonfiction.

@UweStenderPhD Here’s one - if get get an agent rejection saying you are a strong writer, what are the chances it is a form rejection that is sent out, or do such little changes generally indicate there agent went to the effort to note it? Thx!Oh my. I don't know, I guess it could be either. However, if I were to call someone a strong writer, it would not be a form rejection, so likely it wasn't for them either.

Drew Fox @Foxphorescence
@UweStenderPhD What's a crash title?(I tried googling it first. Sorry if that's a stupid question)
It's something where there is an immediate need. I.e, let's say a celebrity dies tonight, then the publishers want to crash the market by releasing a biography asap.

Lynn McPherson @CozyMysteryLynn
@UweStenderPhD If an agent has passed after requesting a full manuscript because of too much telling, not showing, is it worth resending if the manuscript addresses the issue?Requery to see if they want to consider it again.

Drew Fox @Foxphorescence
@UweStenderPhD Hypothetically, someone sends you an amazing book. You sign them and query the work to a publisher who inmediately picks it up.How long would it take for that book to come to market and be in stores?
12-18 months unless it is a crash title.

@UweStenderPhD If you were rejected by an agent and revised the book substantially, can you resubmit? You can certainly requery.

@UweStenderPhD If an agent passes after requesting more, and then said agent switches agencies.... Should a writer re-query? Or do an agent's tastes and needs go with him/her to the next gig? I'm torn on this... #askagentI can't speak for others. BUT, I believe the agent's taste IS the agent's taste.

@UweStenderPhD Thank you! With cnf, do thematically connected essay collections draw as much, more, or less interest as a single book-length narrative?
I don't know what "cnf" means, but essay collections are always more difficult to sell than a book length narrative. Exceptions prove the rule.

@UweStenderPhD Thank you! When offering rep, do you mention your plan to do so in email before THE CALL is set up? I imagine getting an email and sitting on pins and needles wondering what the planned call would be in reference to otherwise. 😂That depends on my mood. Sometimes, I just call. Sometimes, I send an email to ask for the best time to chat.

@UweStenderPhD If an author published with a small press (very limited marketing and distribution), would you have any interest in a query about representation for unexploited rights?Thank you!
*I* would not, but other agents may. 👍

@UweStenderPhD Ok. Annndddddd if I have a book but I don’t know that I want the title to be... that, how do I query it and can it change at anytime? Would publishing companies try to change it/ offer a suggestion?Titles are not that important to me unless they are truly imbecilic or pretentious. Most likely they will get changed along the way.

@UweStenderPhD How do you get an agent if you’re writing different genres? For example, I wrote an uplifting picture book but I’m also working on a psychological thriller.
Is it even possible to get an agent in this case?
Yes. Try us.

@UweStenderPhD Do agents negotiate on your terms? I’ve heard authors pay to go on the press tours (hotel, transport, etc) is that for every author or is that in contract terms? It is negotiated at the contract stage. Your agent will do their best, hopefully.
