@annmrose How do you feel about requeeries if the author has revised?I’m fine with them personally I just like for it to be mentioned in the query (that it is a requery and possibly a brief mention of the changes—“I did a complete rewrite” for example)

Thank you!I would just suggest you do your research. Ask to talk to other authors published by them and have a professional review the contract with you.

@annmrose if querying a novel with very large chapters (10k+) and the queried agent requests "first three chapters" or something similar, is it best to just go with the first 3-5K words rather than putting something that large into a query? thanks for your time!I mean you can follow guidelines, they won’t fault you for that. — on a side note though really long chapters can make the pacing feel off so make sure they NEED to be that long.

When pitching, would you pitch it as a Romance or as a Contemporary?That depends; is the central focus of the story a romance or is it the contemporary issues. What is the core of the plot—the glue that holds it all together? Also, is there an HEA?

@annmrose If an agent has a vision for a MG novel to be a graphic MG novel, would they find the illustrator? And I guess another question, what makes a *good* graphic novel in terms of writing?Not necessarily, but they may have one in mind. If an agent brings the idea up to you speak to them about it and how they envision the process going.
I don’t think the second question can be answered in a simple tweet. But do remember the art does a big portion of the job

@annmrose What is the proper way to nudge an agent for a query response?I would first check their website about how and if they respond and what their standard timeframe is, then if you feel a nudge is warranted, a “I just wanted to check in and see if you had any thoughts about TITLE.” Keep it simple and short.

Somebody on the #AskAgent Tumblr asked if it was true that some editors PURPOSELY ignore agents to "push back" against nudges on submissions. I mean - I don't think so? Am I naive? We're all trying our best here, friends.

@annmrose Why do agents ghost on fulls? And is there anything the author can do to prompt a response/closure?Some agents do unfortunately.
I personally respond to ALL full requests. And authors can feel free to nudge.
The best you can do if they aren’t responsive is to try a few times and if there is still nothing just close no response. 😔

And if you nudged and didn't hear anything, how long should you wait before nudging again?I usually say three months before a nudge so if they said a few weeks that seems oldly unspeficially specific

@annmrose When agents ask for the full do they typically read the whole thing before making a choice noting what they would want to change giving the whole thing a chance or will they just stop part of the way through and reject? I’ve always wondered how much of a chance they give each MS.No not always. Plenty of times the “murky middle” gets really murky so an agent will stop and reject at that point. If you are getting full rejections this is likely the reason. The middle needs some more work.
