Lisa Trank @ltrank

@BookEndsJessica Be honest, kind, and fight for the integrity of our work. No matter what, I want the truth. Kind, caring truth that is dedicated to the benefit of the work becoming the best it can be. Thank you for asking us!
Replying to @ltrank

I think that truth is where it becomes difficult for some authors/agents. Some agents are afraid to really tell their authors the truth for fear of being fired. So yes, at times fear controls agents too. #askagent

Damien Jones @Illio_Jones

@BookEndsJessica Thanks for your time - I feel envious of your authors, I can now hopefully sleep feeling slight less frustration!
Replying to @Illio_Jones

Thank you for the thoughtful questions. Have faith that most agents are truly hard-working people who believe in their role as and author/illustrator advocate. Most of us are good apples. #askagent.

Damien Jones @Illio_Jones

@BookEndsJessica I've really enjoyed your videos on youtube! :D
Should the #daniellesmith incident, be a catalyst for change in the way agents and Illustrators/Authors work, and maybe a cry for better communication and a more open working relationship between both parties?
Replying to @Illio_Jones

If you don’t feel your agent is communicating enough you need to start a conversation about what works for you. Some of my best author-agent relationships are those in which the author told me what was working & what she needed. #askagent

S. L. Hobson @luisyagosaenz

@BookEndsJessica Actually I have a question about that. Why do agents sometimes ask for a synopsis with the manuscript submission? I follow directions of course, I just don't understand.
Replying to @luisyagosaenz

Great question! Because they don't always finish the manuscript, but still want to see how the author executed the ending. Some agents will read the synopsis first to see if the ms stays on course. If not, they might not invest as much into reading the full. #askagent

Pamela Q Fernandes @PamelaQFerns

@BookEndsJessica #askagent Are agents interested if a publishing house makes an offer, but the book was never queried? Can we query after and what do we say? Thank you.
Replying to @PamelaQFerns

Sure. I would query and say you just received an offer from such-and-such publisher and are looking for an agent to negotiate and help grow your career. Then continue with the standard pitch, etc. #askagent
