I like to see YA above 60k but again, word count efficiency matters: don't add needless words to reach a target number. I might read it at 55k and say YOU KNOW WHAT SCENE THIS BOOK NEEDS? So not a hard and fast rule. #askagent

Not a hard pass, but I'd have questions: should this be expanded? Is something missing? Could it be better? Is the author capable of expanding without just bogging down with words?
