"Prepare for the worst but hope for the best"...but then what plan do we have if the best happens? Always be ready to go. An agent wants a phone call? Make sure to have several other book ideas on hand so that they know you are more than just your one book. #querytip

It takes striking the right balance between dialogue and narrative in order to create a fully integrated experience in which a reader can immerse themselves.

That's all I've got for this thread....for now. πŸ™ƒ I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

There are, of course, exceptions, such as epistolary novels through a series of letters or (as seen more recently) exchanges in text messages. Any rule can be broken, so long as it's broken well and the craft renders highly effective results. #subtips

A story that has no narrative keeps the reader from experiencing the story directly as we can never get close enough to the character. Similarly, a story that has almost no dialogue will cut the reader off from everything that occurs outside of the mind of the character. #subtips

Dialogue depicts how one character connects to another character. We all have different ways we communicate depending on who we're with, what environment we're in, as well as how we *emotionally* respond to these things. #subtips

#querytip Don't forget to tell me what your book is about in your query letter. Sample pages are great, but "letting the writing speak for itself" doesn't really work when it comes to querying. I can't judge the execution of your concept if I don't know what it is. #CLAQueries

Ways agents can tell you didn't write your own query letter:

-query is in 3rd person
-no name signed at the bottom
-inclusion of multiple publicity links

Please don't do this.
