Writers ask if it’s worth hiring a freelance editor to help. My philosophy is that it’s not a bad idea if you do your research. There are many random people who call themselves editors and writing coaches, but don’t actually have an editorial work history or track record. #pubtip

When an agent offers rep, it's probably not wise to tell them you don't like doing revisions. Even if you don't want to revise and edit for the agent, 99.9% you'll have to do them for an editor if your book sells. There's always room for improvement. #pubtip

Publishing tip: If you’ve trolled an author online, it’s probably best not to query that author’s agent for representation. If you’ve been nasty to any of my clients due to ignorance or just for the pure sake of being nasty, I’m never going to rep you. #pubtip

- I've been writing for 20+ years, but not seriously (goal of publication) until 7 years ago- It took me 4 manuscripts and 5 years to find an agent
- I wrote STARFISH while on sub with my 4th MS that didn't sell
- STARFISH officially sold 10 months after signing with my agent twitter.com/CaitlinLaRue/s…
I find writers with the highest success rate are the ones with the most patience and perseverance. Success doesn’t usually happen overnight in publishing. There’s a lot of heartbreak and tears along the way, but the key is to always ALWAYS keep going. #pubtip
