michael gray | LETTERS out sept 10 @graybullahow do you feel about authors who want to write different genres within the same age range, for example, querying with YA fantasy but planning on writing YA contemporary later? would you say this is something that greatly impacts your decision to offer representation? #askLitAOC
Justin Matsen @JustinMatsen15#asklitAOC A question I’ve been sitting on for awhile... is it a turn-off to use wildly successful stories like Star Wars or Hunger Games as comp titles in your query?
Not a turn-off to me but not useful. Star Wars isn't a useful sales comp and it might reveal a shallow understanding of the genre if it's the only editorial comp. imo. #asklitAOC
🌈 Steve Asbell Awareness Month @rainforestgardn@leonicka When ownvoices applies to disability/autism is it relevant? #asklitAOC
Jay Mehta @jaymstoriesWhat do you feel like is “the moment” when you know you’ve connected with a writer’s story? #askLitAOC
The moment is usually at 2:46am when I'm 87% through the full and creating a mental submission list. LOL #asklitAOC
Rae (is on her final edit right now) Williams @RachaelEWritesWhen does #OwnVoices not count as OwnVoices? I am a black/native American author but my MC is Kenyan. Would I label that OwnVoices?
*whispers* I don't use or pay attention to the ownvoices label specifically for this reason. #asklitAOC
