C. L. Doupagne🌈 (they/them) @DoupagneCAre the first one or two pages enough to tell if a manuscript matches your tastes or do you read all 10 - 20 sample pages?
first 2 pgs will tell me if the book is BAD. Always need to read more to see if it's a great fit. (I've read entire manuscripts and then decided not to offer :/ ) #askDVpit
Ilse ✨ @ilsewrites#askDVpit are agents likely to take international clients or do they prefer to represent USA residents only? 💕
Trang Tran @trangwrites#askDVpit what often gets writers in your revise and resubmit pile rather than an offer?
The level of editing required. Am I going to have to do more than 2 passes with this before we can submit? Am I suggesting changes that the writer may be unwilling or unable to complete? R&R #askDVpit
Kim Vazquez @KimVwriterThis might be a silly ? BUT do authors sign contracts with their agents as well as with their publishers? #askDVpit
GREAT question! Yes there are contracts/agreements between clients and their agent that lay out the terms of your business relationship and what happens if that relationship ends. Super important. #askDVpit
C. L. Doupagne🌈 (they/them) @DoupagneC@leonicka Would something around 150k be better? 🤔
150K is still quite long imo. To be honest, I flag anything over 100K but for adult fantasy I'll go to 120K. Anything over that is the EXCEPTION and thus has to be EXCEPTIONAL #askDVpit
