I spent many years not logging query data, but my 2021 goal is to be more organized.

Some #querystats: so far in 2021 I have received ~600 queries addressed to me.

I have requested 79 manuscripts to date (as of this wk).

I have offered rep to 1 slush pile project.

1st week back to work & 1st week the @PSLiterary query box is open.

Some fun #querystats:

I got approx. 120 queries pitched to me specifically the past 5 days of the queries being open.

I've read 50% & flagged 2 for requests.

1 query I saw right away & requested directly.

A newsworthy announcement: I am caught up on queries. Yes, you heard that right. Fully caught up. Requests to go out shortly. I take your submissions very seriously & read every single one that's addressed to me (yes, even those addressed to Carley Walters 😏). #querystats

If anyone is counting: I have 35 partials, 5 proposals & 15 full manuscripts. #querystats

Request pile: 32 partials, 19 fulls, 3 proposals, 2 picture books. Caught up to Feb 9 on query letters. #querystats

Just deleted all 14,863 queries from 2016. Fresh start for 2017 when @PSLiterary opens to pitches again tomorrow. #querystats

So yes, we get 15k queries a year, but we DO sign clients. We ARE looking for new voices. Query well & query widely. #querystats

I also get 10-15 referrals a year from other clients & industry friends that go to the top of my list. #querystats

I request ~10-40 manuscripts a month via the slush pile. Which is about a 1-3% request rate via traditional queries #querystats

I signed 1 client from a @WritersDigest webinar, which is a first! #querystats

I think I made ~5-7 offers of representation via slush pile manuscripts--and signed 4 new authors via traditional queries #querystats

I'm about 300 queries behind right now. Trying to catch up! Making my way through January... #querystats
