So... Apparently, this has to be said. I do NOT want any virus/pandemic manuscripts right now. Just. Don’t. #amagenting #pubtip #WritingCommunity #amquerying

Please don’t pitch your story to agents on Twitter unless it’s a pitch party. If you want to know if the agent will be interested in your MS, query them. Thanks! #amquerying #WritingCommunity #pubtip

Please don’t pitch your project directly to agents on Twitter. Query us instead. You can query me at: querylynnette (@) theseymouragency (dot) com. Paste query and 1st 5 pages in body of email. NO attachments unless requested. #WritingCommunity #amquerying #pubtip

Hey, peeps. Just a reminder to please read our guidelines before submitting to us. I've been getting quite a few queries without sample pages, when I'd really like to see the first five pages too (pasted, NOT attached). #amquerying #pubtip #writingcommunity

I’ll admit I request A LOT. I can’t help myself. So many great projects come my way, and I need to see if they’ll hook me to the point of obsession. That’s what it takes. I need to be so in love with the MS that I gush. #pubtip #amquerying #amagenting 1/3

Querying is about selling your book. A part of that is the blurb & sample pages, but agents check out your social media too. If you post that you received ANOTHER rejection, will I want to request that project? #BestFootForward #amquerying #pubtip #ThingsToKeepOffSocialMedia

Just a reminder... I don't open attachments unless I've requested them. Sending me your query as an attachment means I won't get to read it. ☹️ #amquerying #pubtip #amagenting

I’m not saying these authors are doing that, but it happens. If you notify agents of your offer & they pass, don’t take that to mean the agent who offered is wrong, & that your project sucks. It could be as simple as a timing issue. 6/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying

I might have offered on these projects but can’t keep 'em all. Keep this in mind when U get an offer. Only nudge agents if you’re prepared to take the offer. Don’t use it as a tool to get agents to read quickly. You might not like the results. 5/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying

Lynnette Novak @Lynnette_Novak · 27 Sep 2018

That’s not the case here. I don’t have the luxury of reading these projects & sitting on them while I decide if I’m in love or “in like.” To be real, I won’t have time to read 5 projects & get my client work done in such a short time frame. 4/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying

While that’s exciting, because I have 5 gems in my pile, it’s also frustrating. Even if I love them, I can’t offer on all 5 at once. Normally, if there weren’t offers, I would have the time to space out my offers (assuming I love them). 3/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying

In the publishing industry, you hear a lot about how “timing is everything.” Here’s an example of how timing could affect whether or not you get an offer of rep from an agent. 1/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying

There’s something special about October 10, 2018. I’m not sure what it is, but I know there has to be something. Over the past week & a half, FIVE authors have told me they’ve received offers of representation and need an answer by October 10. 2/6 #amagenting #pubtip #amquerying
