Also, please always include your phone number. I am old school and love surprising an author with a call to offer representation. An email to warn you ruins the fun for me ;) #querytip #amquerying

One thing I've noticed in queries is that since we use Query Manager people forget that queries should still be tweeted as formal business letters. #querytipI still want to see, "Dear...." and an introduction that includes title, genre, and word count. As I've said before, I don't care if you use comp titles or not. #querytip

@NaomisLitPix Hi Naomi, I’ve noticed that sometimes submitting I’m asked what other book can I compare my story to. I cant compare my stories with other stories because I try to be original. Is that considered a negative? 🤔A good #askagent question, and my answers. #amquerying #querytip

#querystats Of the 26 queries I rejected about...
30% were because querier didn't understand their audience/genre
30% were because I didn't see enough story/plot
20% were because the idea didn't sound marketable
20% were because didn't feel different enough #amagenting #querytip

Here's how I see showing vs telling. THREADTell: "He felt defeated."
Incompletely shown: "His shoulders sagged."
Shown and immersed: "His shoulders sagged in defeat."

#querytip: think of a query letter like a cover letter for a job. You wouldn't tell an employer about how cute your pets are or how much you love gardening, so why tell a #literaryagent these things if they aren't related to your manuscript? #amquerying
