#QueryTip When sending a revision per R&R request, name your file:
[TITLE], by [AUTHOR]_Rev. [MONTH] [YEAR].
(Plus include your title, author name, contact information, pitch + page numbers in the manuscript.)
If the title has changed, explain in the cover letter.

Yes, agents sometimes send me redlined drafts and non-final versions, titled “USE THIS ONE” or numbered gibberish. It’s not going to make or break a submission, and agents can help, but it’s good to build strong habits for naming files for your own peace of mind!#QueryTip When sending a full manuscript per an agent's request, name your file:
[TITLE], by [AUTHOR]_[MONTH] [YEAR]
...or some iteration with same info. (Make sure to include your title, author name, contact information, pitch + page numbers in the manuscript.)

I just finished reading all the Canadian queries we got this last round. Here are my #querystats for the final CANADIAN submission round:
~50+ submissions received.
~12+ emails asking for more info.
- 0 (zero) offers.
I’m looking forward to reading more subs from 🇨🇦 next year.

In order to catch up on remaining work, empty our inboxes, and start the New Year strong, CMA will not be considering any queries sent from 12/16/22 through 01/01/23. We'll see you on 01/02/23!
Happy Holidays!

If you get an offer of pub in a contest for unagented authors... then get an agent because YAY someone wants to publish you... & house says they will RESCIND the offer if agent wants to negotiate...
That's a fucking huge red flag and predatory AF

-Have proposal/ms ready to go before querying agents so you can send requested materials right away.
-Your 1st ms might not be your 1st published book.
-Don't be afraid to follow-up (gently) if you don't hear from an agent. #pubtip #amquerying

My best #QueryTip: If a project isn't getting traction, take a break, assess what might be confusing or flat, revise, then try again. Query new agents plus those you've tried before. Find the right fit.I have clients who sent revisions after I initially passed. Revision is ✨ twitter.com/marchsoloway/s…
#QueryTip When working on an R&R, take time to truly assess the story, think about new possibilities, and add new layers of complexity and depth. Revise beyond tweaking. Write new scenes and chapters. Make it feel fresh and new. Captivate the reader. #amrevising

#QueryTip When sending a revision, please mention it's a revision in the query letter. (I'll know you sent the project before, thanks to QM, but the reminder is helpful.) Start the new draft with a dynamic opening scene + declarative first line to hook the reader. #amrevisingMy best #QueryTip: If a project isn't getting traction, take a break, assess what might be confusing or flat, revise, then try again. Reminder that all queries sent unsolicited to my inbox (meaning my work email) will NOT be considered.
This isn’t to be mean. This is to keep it fair for all authors. #QueryTip #WritingCommunity
