Can we start a thread with #authorstats cuz real life is not write a book get a dealPls rt
-how long youβve been writing
-how long it took to get agent
-how long it took to get 1st deal
-how many msβs did you write before 1st deal
-which # ms was your first deal?
Every querying author should be checking out #authorstats. Those stories of agent on the first book and it sold a month later are outliers. Publishing is a long game. And always remember: your journey is your own. EVERYONE is different #pubtip

9. BUT! And this is an important BUT. Know that you are not expected to agree with your editor's requests 100%. She knows you're not a robot. Your job is to critically consider what will strengthen the book and make sure she's happy. And don't be a jerk/diva about it.Whenever my clients get an edit letter, no matter if itβs their first book our fourth have this reminder at the very start of it. Iβm not here to turn a book into something itβs not. #pubtip

I just got an offer for something that I sent to the editor in September 2015. It might come out in 2019. Publishing: NOT for the impatient! So. True. The road to publication is not a race. (Says the impatient person here.) Always remember this guys. #pubtip

General #querytip/#pubtip on genre/age: Think where you want readers to find it on the shelf. THAT is your genre/age group. #BookEndsChat
