-how long it took to get agent
-how long it took to get 1st deal
-how many ms’s did you write before 1st deal

Every querying author should be checking out #authorstats. Those stories of agent on the first book and it sold a month later are outliers. Publishing is a long game. And always remember: your journey is your own. EVERYONE is different #pubtip

9. BUT! And this is an important BUT. Know that you are not expected to agree with your editor's requests 100%. She knows you're not a robot. Your job is to critically consider what will strengthen the book and make sure she's happy. And don't be a jerk/diva about it.

Whenever my clients get an edit letter, no matter if it’s their first book our fourth have this reminder at the very start of it. I’m not here to turn a book into something it’s not. #pubtip
