This business isn't a simple yes or no. I passed on a manuscript I absolutely loved. Why? Because I wasn't sure how I would shop it. They got another offer so it was in their best interest I step aside for the clearer vision. #askagent

When pitching your manuscript, avoid stating how the audience will react or what they will learn.

Art will be interpreted by the individual. Yes it’s your art and your intention, but you can’t make the reader feel by telling them how to.

If I pass on your submission but ask to see future work, I mean it. I saw potential in your writing and hope your next will land it.

But please, don’t send me shelved projects. I’m looking for your growth as an author, and old work won’t show me that. #querytip #askagent

A writer as a main character makes me wary, I wonder how much of the author's ego is tied up in the story. #askagent #writetip

Amuses me when authors who have obviously done their research on me, submit a trope I don't like anyway. Scrappy and no harm done! #askagent
