Do: Send us sample pages when you query; I love to get a sense of your writing.
Don't: Send said sample pages (or query letter) via GoogleDoc or file we have to download. I am paranoid about spam/phishing and this makes me not want to read. #querytip

#QueryTip No need to send a query to me as an exclusive. I expect and want you to query other agents. You deserve the best representation for your work, be it me or someone else. Query far and wide to find the right fit for you. #amquerying

@BookEndsJessica Boosting! Also: how should I indicate if my ms includes “found documents” (incident reports, detention slips, student essays, passed notes, etc). Do I mention it in the query? For now, each document has what it is at the top of its own page (in lieu of a chapter title).
Is this nonfiction? Are they critical to the story? If they aren't critical to the story and the progression of the story I'm not sure you need to include the information in the query. Would it need to be on cover copy? #querytip #askagent

Note to querying authors: our system allows us to see your submission history. So when you query one of us and then two days later query someone else in the agency we know. #SlushInsight #querytip

Pretty please, let agents know if you have an offer (even if you're withdrawing bc you've found your perfect match). It sucks to start falling for a project only to learn it was recently rep'd. My query system has a spot for that, and I keep messages open. #querytip #amquerying

PEOPLE! Some agents want endings revealed in the synopsis. Some don't.
THIS IS WHY YOU RESEARCH AND TAILOR SUBMISSIONS ACCORDINGLY!

When #amquerying fiction, you don’t need to talk about marketing, platform, etc. Describe the characters and plot, add a short bio, and you’re done. #querytip
