In your query letters, find a way to praise your manuscript without putting down your genre, or other books in your genre. #querytipYour manuscript is awesome, so tell me the awesome things! Like, if you have a new take on vampires, you don't need to say it's about "vampires who don't sparkle." Focus on your exciting and unique things. #querytip

More #grammartips: When to use "I" or "me". "I" is a subject; "me" is an object. "Joe and I went to dinner." BUT "Come to dinner with Joe and me." Test yourself by taking out the name. Does it still sound correct? (You wouldn't say "Come to dinner with I.") #pubtip #writing

When reading submissions, I don't pass on a manuscript for a few typos. I do pass on a manuscript when there is significant data dump. #pubtipAnd I pass on a manuscript when I don’t want to keep reading—which is often when there IS a significant data dump. #pubtip Good tip, @SaraMegibow

Do you have pet words that you tend to repeat too often? A document search will inevitably reveal two things:1) That, yes, you need to replace and vary your word choice.
2) That these echoed words are inevitably used in places you should tighten up, anyway.

Going to say it again: if you’re an author, you shouldn’t alter your twitter handle. Not only is it a brand recognition issue to use some funny, temporary thing. It likewise makes it impossible for your agent or editor or colleague to tag you if the new handle isn’t known.

A rejection doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong with your MS. Sometimes I really like a MS, but if I don't LOVE it, I can't represent it. Another agent might go bananas over the same project. Very subjective. #BestFit #pubtip #amquerying
