When I was interning I was lucky enough to do some work for marketing and publicity. While they super fun and necessary for a book, (1/2) twitter.com/latinxinpub/st…I ultimately discovered that working in editorial is my publishing home. Being a direct link to storytellers and their books. #LxPChat

Q6 How do editors work with authors to bring their story to life? @normajeanesays #LxPChatIn short: communication. I read and respond to their writing: asking questions, making suggestions, and being their cheerleader. #LxPChat

In my case, that means I assist two editors and support them both editorially and administratively. (1/2) #LxPChat twitter.com/latinxinpub/st…The "acquiring" part means I am also building my own list of authors and work on their books as an editor! (2/2) #LxPChat

I have a story (full book proposal done) that was going to be NF but may be memoir. Suggestions about which it should be? #bookendschatYou mean fiction or memoir? That's something you'll need to figure out before submitting #BookEndsChat

Do you prefer 1st or 3rd person in MG contemporary and fantasy? #bookendschatI'll say third only because first person in middle grade is REALLY hard to do well - but I'm open to either! #BookEndsChat

#BookEndsChat If your story is told in 2 POV's is it easier to have the query be in just 1 of them? My 2 POV query kept getting rejectedI would not be writing your query in any character's POV period. And then just mention it is told in dual POV in the query. #BookEndsChat

@InkyMargins Publishing is still very much an apprenticeship industry, so the best way to learn the in's and out's is an internship. #BookEndsChat@Mediabistro also runs classes in person and online, and there's a number of industry conferences you can attend #BookEndsChat
