"People want comfort and nostalgia at the moment." @K8JohnsonAuthor and @janelovering talking about the British response to difficult times and why romance is so popular. There will be a happy ending even if the book is gritty and dark. #SoAWritingRomanceI am absolutely looking for happy endings at the moment - all genres. I think currently readers do not want to invest 2-3 hours reading a novel to be depressed at end #askagent #SoAWritingRomance

@katenashagent @DebsCarr Do self-published authors need agents? And do agents want to take on self-published authors? #literaryagents #askagentAn agent is there as a career manager so it is down to what author wants from their writing career as to whether they need or want an agent #askagent #selfpubconf

Anyone at #selfpubconf, do ask me any questions you have about #literaryagents. I’m here all day. Or you can ask me here on Twitter! #askagent pic.twitter.com/oYw5xJEtLwAsked by a writer at #selfpubconf how to define genre of their novel. Whatever is the main plot defines main genre so a mystery with a sub plot romance is a mystery first. Or vice versa. #askagent

@katenashagent OK, well being from the world of educational publishing, I've always wondered how the fiction world works. What are the benefits of a literary agent?Agents are career managers for authors so securing them contracts for their books, negotiating these contracts and protecting & promoting their interests. Think manager in music biz 🎶 but in publishing. #askagent #selfpubconf

@LinaLanglee @katenashagent With a fast-paced crime fiction novel, how would you want to see the balance between the plot / pace / action and the characters’ stories away from the events themselves? #AskAgentThe $64,000 question! You have to maintain the pace and yet develop the characters. I think you have to read through for pace and be very conscious of what you can and can't do while keeping up suspense, conflict and action. #askagent

@TheRealNickJury Hi Nick. Reading is subjective so it is great to have lots of agents out there with varying reading tastes. Your agent should be your champion so loving your story is no 1. We work closely with our authors, share sub info, have a great track record and we're jolly nice #AskAgentThe agency is known for being talent spotting, being very commercial and lots of our authors have gone on to become bestsellers. We've got a "recent bestsellers" slideshow on our website front page to show off about that! katenashlit.co.uk #askagent
