Someone just submitted a political thriller to me as a middle grade. QueryManager won't let you submit political thrillers to me since I don't rep them. Just a #querytip, don't do this. Agents rep sections of the industry they know. I would be a terrible agent for this project.

I know writing a query isn't fun but I really need you to write one. When you send me 10 pages with just "Hope it makes you smile!", I don't know what I'm looking at or what set of expectations to put on the pages. #querytip

If your book is already self-published, considering querying a new novel instead. I know some writers thing agents are dismissive of self-published works. It is because we have all tried to sell some we LOVED only to be told sales needed to be in tens of thousands. #querytip

Replying to the oldest queries right now (since I read some complaints on QueryTracker, NM). And one of them says it's an "exclusive" query. I'm like, "Why did you do that to yourself? Don't you know how slow I am?" Don't exclusively query one agent! Query widely! #querytip

I don't really need to know all the personal details that led you to decide to write a book. What's it about? Why do I want to read it? #querytip

Here's what we agreed in the @FuseLiterary staff meeting. Pitching on Twitter? No. Other social media? No. Querying personal emails? No. BE PROFESSIONAL. Every agent tells you EXACTLY how to contact them on their webpage. #querytip

Why is it always the people with the WORST queries who reply back to a form rejection, annoyed? #querytip don't do this.
