Had a few of these queries this week (YA set in the 80's or 90's). It's USUALLY because the author was a teen during that time. #100Queries

73. YA Contemporary. Unnecessarily set in the 1980’s. Pitch doesn’t sound YA at all. #100Queries

72. YA Paranormal. Not reading anything new here, and the comp titles used are middle grade books. #100Queries

Not following guidelines is an excellent way to get your query ignored! If an agent doesn't ask for attachments, don't send. #100Queries
