In contemporaries I love "reunited lovers" stories. (The next @WriterTJKline has an amazing one that gave me so many feelings!) #AskAvonBks

@nicolefischer13 I love them, too! And I'm kind of a sucker for an accidental pregnancy. I think it's the books I read in the early '90's as a youth.OMG exactly!!! So many of my early days romances had secret babies/accidental pregnancies in them. Guess it just stuck with me! #askavonbks

@nicolefischer13 I know they are totally unrealistic, but I can't resist a good billionaire story, but sports romance are my #1 fav. #AskAvonBksI'm a little burned out on billionaires but give me a naughty sports star ANY DAY! #askavonbks

I'm also a sucker for a good "Heroine has to dress up like a boy" story. Something about the disguise works for me. #AskAvonBksDoes anyone know a good contemporary with this trope? Like that terrible 80s soccer movie? #AskAvonBks

I get a lot of grief for this one, but I love secret babies!!! I don't know why... Living vicariously through fiction, I guess. #AskAvonBks

My governess fascination doesn't work in contemporaries. I have no problems with teacher heroines but not an "instaread" for me. #AskAvonBks

My favorite trope is one word! Governess. If you've got a governess as your heroine, chances are I will read it. #AskAvonBks

@nicolefischer13 just saw this on lunch, do you suggest hiring an editor b4 subbing?.@Everywoman98 Critique groups and/or beta readers are helpful! But hiring an editor before submitting to us isn't necessary! #AskAvonBks

Remember: don't be nervous when you're #pitching! I'm just a book lover like you and I'm excited to hear about your story! #AskAvonBks

Seege @SeegeVega
Honolulu, 1941. Three sisters from a prominent Hawaiian family deal with love, cultural divides, and war. #askavonbks.@Seege1977 I'm intrigued. Is it a romance or women's fiction? (Meaning more about romantic relationships?) #AskAvonBks

Kimberley Bailey @KimBailey1019
If one were to pitch at a conference or such, should it be just one sentence or three? #AskAvonBks.@KimBailey1019 I would definitely go for longer! Generally pitches are at least 5 minutes and I'm going to ask follow ups #AskAvonBks

@avonbooks #askavonbks Do you recommend doing your homework, and tailoring your pitch to the specific editor/agent your pitching? This is a great question. I think get the perfect pitch but tailor your questions to the editor/agent/house you're pitching. #AskAvonBks

@avonbooks Or do you recommend just fine tuning one pitch that knocks it out of the park? #askavonbks.@Laforesta1 A rock solid pitch is always the goal! But specific tropes/things grab ME every time, so knowing that is a plus! #askavonbks
