Is there much call for a duology in YA or should we be sticking to stand-alones and trilogies? #askagentDefinitely room for a Duology #askagent

@julietpickering Thanks for doing this! What's the best querying etiquette for when an agent invites you to query (like at a con) then you go home and realize your query is already in the inbox of a different agent from the same agency? #AskAgent(not asking for a friend, I get out too much...)
I would leave it with the agent you already sent it to - or you could email the other agent and tell them and they could ask their colleague about it #askagent

@mushenska @julietpickering If an agent - whose website says they will reply - doesn't, and you chase them and they still don't, is this because they are snowed under or is it just uncaring? #askagentI would usually give benefit of doubt and say they are snowed under - for example I receive 150 submissions a week and probably another 100 emails a day so sometimes things go astray #askagent

#askagent Do agents read all of the submissions they receive or are they sifted first by somebody else?Depends - I read all mine #askagent

How important is author personality/willingness to promote promote promote? #askagentIt certainly helps but I do appreciate that some authors can’t for health or distance reasons so there are ways to work around #askagent

Thank you @mushenska, what’s the recommend length of the introduction to the book proposal? If submitting one chapter, is it always advisable to make that chapter 1?There’s no exact word count - I would pick the strongest chapter as your sample #askagent

@mushenska Are publishers looking at new manuscripts being submitted to them from literary agents at the moment? #askagentYes - an editor told me she was in an auction on Friday! #askagent

Hi, do you think there will be a greater market for dystopian or utopian fiction after all of this is over - or maybe just more cheerful fiction? #AskAgentI think we will see both - some people love escapism and others want more misery! #askagent
Literary Agent
Sarah.J.Harris @sarahsky23
Gatecrashing the discussion, sorry! Is there still an appetite for YA books in the UK market, or is it increasingly difficult for authors to get deals? #askagentThere is an appetite still but there are definitely challenges in the U.K. market in terms of being stocked widely in retailers #askagent

@jounwin @mushenska @julietpickering #askagentIf you've had high praise from authors reading your manuscript should you quote them in your cover letter (with their permission) or does it come across as arrogant or just seem irrelevant?
Hmmm I don’t have strong feelings on it - it usually comes down to my own response to the own MS #askagent

#askagent One more. With the current global situation, are publishers noticeably less interested in horror subs?I think people always like horror because it is a safe way to scare yourself #askagent
