I get a lot of of writers asking why I don't shut down my submissions inbox occasionally, as other agents do.
It's simple: I have an acute case of FOMO. And it's not a lot of work, to scroll through my subs to find the ones that interest me. #amquerying #askagent #askanagent

@wordwiselit A reversion clause, meaning after a certain time or specified gate, rights revert back?Might be after a certain time span.
Or under certain conditions (such as, the book's sales have slowed to a trickle).
Some contracts will require you to buy out their remaining inventory, likely at a deep-discount price.

@wordwiselit What makes a “good” book deal - besides the advance? You'll want a clear reversion clause. And an option clause.

@wordwiselit Is there a submission “season” or do agents submit to publishers year-round?A small minority of pubs and agents only take subs at certain times. But for most, you can submit whenever. If anything, they might ignore your email until their hiatus is over. Always consult their guidelines first.

@wordwiselit Thanks Steven. I’m revisiting a romcom thriller I wrote years ago and that won an unpublished prize but wonder about its chances these days since it’s set in the gold mining industry. Would that be an automatic turn off?Well, gold mining industry still exists.
But are we talking about the old California Gold Rush? This would likely count as historical fiction. Nothing wrong with that.
