It's December 2nd, and I'm now closed to queries for a little bit: if you've got one for me, please hang on to it until the new year! #querytip

Some advice based on a problem I've been seeing in a lot of queries lately: a good place to start is to make sure that by the time I've finished reading it I know the main character's name (no, really) & what *personal* stake they have in whatever the conflict is. #querytip

#querytip: we understand that it's a frustrating process -- there are things about it that frustrate us, too! -- but extolling the evils of agents/publishing in general in your query is probably not the way to go
