#querytip: Friendly reminder to querying authors that pitching us via our personal Instagrams, LinkedIn, Facebook pages, etc., is not the appropriate way to go about querying/pitching (Twitter is fine IF it's part of a Twitter contest like DVPit or PitMad).

Writers, please sign your query letters? It makes my life when I go to respond (either way) so much easier. Otherwise, it's just me going, "I...hope...this is your name?" #querytip

Been thinking about this one for awhile and it's something that drives me (and others) crazy, so: #querytip time!

Make sure you are doing your proofing BEFORE you start submitting to agents -- whether it's via e-mail or at a conference. It's tough to read someone's pages

Friends: sending your queries/pitches to an agent's personal social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) is not the way to go. Let some facets of our lives be semi-not-work-related! Unless specifically directed, their work e-mail is the way to go. #querytip

Tweeting this out again as a reminder/plea/word of advice/instruction: please remember to follow the submission guidelines of the agency that you are querying. I promise they are there for specific reasons. #querytip #querying

#querytip: Please, please, please do not badger an agent to discuss a rejection, via e-mail or by phone. Most agents will offer feedback as they see fit/are able to. If you did not receive feedback, cross 'em off your list, and move on.
