Urban

Secondary world fantasy in an urban setting. I love books like CITY OF STAIRS and THREE PARTS DEAD. #mswl

I would really, really love to see some fantasy romance/UF/PNR starring trans guys #mswl

The hallmark of a lot of urban fantasy seems to be a mish-mash of cross-cultural supernatural folklore and myths. This is cool, but I'd love to see UF with non-Western, culture-specific secret supernatural subcultures. #MSWL (bear in mind I am very picky about UF).

Especially if you want to set it in a pre-Globalism period of history where it's even more plausible that these communities would be so insular. I'd love a British Raj UF that's mostly communities of Indian folklore creatures with a handful of British Isles imports. #MSWL

Contemporary fantasy or UF where the stakes aren't cosmic (about saving the world) and the setting feels like a character! (I blame @christineexists for this one). #MSWL

hi! i am a girl who wants to read more books set in west and central asia!
(esp. if they are supernatural/urban fantasies or historical fantasies or sweet fizzy contemporary romances)

this is a #mswl thing but also very much a "please recommend me some reading" thing

I want more witches in my inbox! I'm talking The Craft, urban witches dealing with real-world issues. #MSWL

beth phelan @beth_phelan · Apr 16

I want urban fantasy in MG too please! Series potential and big friend groups, family-focused, heartfelt—would love to fight some surprise tears reading a fun, sweeping adventure. #MSWL

beth phelan @beth_phelan · Apr 16

I love my YA contemporary list and still WANT MORE! Something a little offbeat, surreal, defffffinitely funny. Maybe surrounding a small thing/event that gets blown out of proportion/snowballs... Peculiar communities, histories... Maybe urban legends?? #MSWL

beth phelan @beth_phelan · Apr 16

I’m still looking for my fresh take on vampires in YA, whether grounded in this world or else reimagined and renamed in a fantasy one. I’d love to see more unexpected urban fantasy in general too, with characters I’d follow anywhere. #MSWL

Kaitlyn Johnson @kaitylynne13 · Apr 4

#MSWL for MG, I want mature voices. Upper MG storylines. LOVE historical fiction for younger characters, contemporary that makes me like who I'm reading about, urban fantasy/magical realism where the child is strong & proud.

Kaitlyn Johnson @kaitylynne13 · Apr 4

#MSWL Urban Fantasy all ages, based off lesser-known legends and myths. Give me creatures that require research, that you don't see in every scary movie.

Kaitlyn Johnson @kaitylynne13 · Apr 4

#MSWL Southern Gothic is high on my list. YA or A; historical fiction/fantasy, contemporary, urban fantasy, magical realism. Bonus points for local legend and bayou storylines.

@dinovisms MSWL?

Replying to @HannahFergesen

I was thinking clear manifestation of my severe perfectionist tendencies, but now I kind of want a YA UF about a badass girl with self-changing body art she uses to solve crimes in dreamscape sequences... #mswl

Sarah McCabe @sarahrmccabe · Mar 7

Guys, I'd REALLY love a YA Altered Carbon—a super-futuristic urban sci-fi that discusses the ethical/moral implications behind technological advancement because I am OBSESSED. #MSWL
