Thriller

Ali Herring @HerringAli · 19 Sep 2018

#MSWL I don’t usually ask for thrillers but I’d like one where a detective or FBI agent purchases a used computer at a local junk shop & finds disturbing images on it—including a photograph of a well-known missing person, someone he personally knows. And she may still be alive.

Jordan Hamessley @thejordache · 17 Sep 2018

I saw #ASimpleFavor last night knowing very little about it. I highly recommend going in like that. If you have seen it, I now want a YA with the same level of tension and comedy. Thriller comedies, please! #MSWL

Abby Saul @BookySaul · 17 Sep 2018

I'm jonesing for a new twisty gasp-out-loud thriller - if it's a bit scary, that's even better #MSWL

Becky LeJeune @BeckyLeJeune · 13 Sep 2018

Ooh, #mswl day! Right now I’m craving great SF/horror mashups, general dark horror, PI mysteries, gothic suspense, and dark thrillers - YA & adult! Diverse voices always a plus!

Jessica Sinsheimer @jsinsheim

Good morning! It's #MSWL day!

Agents + editors will be tweeting what they wish they had in their inboxes.

Writers can take note of which agents may be a good fit, and then submit work traditionally.

Need any help? @kkhendin and I are standing by!

I've been pretty vocal in the past week about what I'm looking for, but I'll say it again with the #MSWL tag!

- Thrillers! 😳 (Adult & YA)
- Horror! 😰 (Adult & YA)
- Contemporary YA 😎
- Speculative 🤔😍 (YA & adult)
- Fantasy ⚔️🔮🛡🐉(MG/YA/adult)
- Hilarious MG 😂

But also, here are things I'm always looking for:
as an umbrella: the exploration of human resiliency via crime lens.
--indigenous/native protagonists #MMIW
--thriller/suspense set in a cabin in the woods
--serial killers
--creepy dolls and/or wells
#MSWL

Is it still #MSWL day? It's simple: I just want the movie PEPPERMINT in novel form. Otherwise known as a commercial domestic thriller that packs a punch, is action-packed, and tugs at the heart strings all at the same time.

Jennifer Udden aka gritallica @suddenlyjen · 12 Sep 2018

Also: smart thrillers, unusual crime, contempt romance in the vein of M o’keefe #mswl

Brenna English-Loeb @benglishhh · 12 Sep 2018

Please send me sci-fi/fantasy/mystery/thrillers, ya or adult, especially those that are character driven or investigate genre tropes
I’m also a sucker for anything with a strong environment, either literally or figuratively
#MSWL

Megan Ilnitzki @megilnit · 12 Sep 2018

This dreary NYC fall weather also has me in the mood for something spooky. Either ghostly, creepy MG or thriller YA. #MSWL

Emilia Rhodes @emiliarhodes · 12 Sep 2018

YA thrillers that feel surprising and new. I'm a murderino at heart and am currently loving Sadie by Courtney Summers. Also would really love to see thrillers written by POC writers and other writers from marginalized backgrounds. I know they're out there! #MSWL

Jordan Hamessley @thejordache · 12 Sep 2018

I tweet out #MSWL thoughts pretty regularly so you can always search those. That said, my list is pretty full of contemporary YA right now. I'd love a great YA thriller or horror novel to add to my list!

Hillary Jacobson @hillaryjacobson · 12 Sep 2018

Oooh #MSWL day! Some random things I’d love to see: a modern day VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, a utopian YA, GHOSTED w/ millennial age characters or in YA, psychological suspense that borrows from the news/2018 & a speculative thriller.

Karen Greenberg @kgreenbergreads · 12 Sep 2018

#MSWL:
Contemporary, emotional love stories
Sweeping historical fiction
Smart, elevated thrillers
Novels in verse
Picture books with STEM hooks
Anything else that’s voice driven, literary, and innovative!

Lynnette Novak @Lynnette_Novak · 12 Sep 2018

Seeking: Adult: suspense/thrillers, fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary romance, rom-com, & mysteries. YA: suspense/ thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mysteries, historical, & contemporary. MG: Sci-fi, fantasy, contemporary, adventure, mysteries, horror, & humor. #diversity #MSWL

Bibi Lewis @Bibi_Lewis · 12 Sep 2018

My biggest #mswl of late is a fresh take on a YA thriller. Give me a new format, big stakes, characters who take agency over their circumstances and flip all expectations (think SADIE or GENUINE FRAUD)

Lydia Sharp @lydia_sharp · 12 Sep 2018

still on YA:
*mystery/thrillers w/ atypical narrative structure and/or mixed media formats
*paranormal that feels fresh
*adventure-driven stories
*anything with a high-stakes plot
*fairytale retellings that feel fresh
*smart contemporary that makes me laugh and cry
#MSWL

dongwon @dongwon · 12 Sep 2018

Smart, savvy, adult thrillers with a literary voice and crossover appeal. Some speculative aspect is fine. Think Tana French or Lauren Beukes. No cops. No sexual violence. Women, PoC, other marginalized folk would be ideal. #MSWL
