I'd love to see some adult fiction set in the seedy, gritty underbelly of an 18th- or 19th-century city. A super immersive setting with magic? A mystery? Both?? Whaddaya got for me #amquerying writers? #mswl

A couple corrections to my previous thread. For Adult fiction: I do very little adult fiction, but I do love reading it. Offbeat/literary but not experimental, commercial and book club, adventure/mystery. No fantasy, sci-fi, category romance. #MSWL
Adult fiction: I do very little adult NF, but I do love reading it. Offbeat/literary but not experimental, commercial and book club, adventure/mystery. No fantasy, sci-fi, category romance. #MSWL
YA: Much the same as MG--humor, realistic teen stories, #ownvoices, adventure, sci-fi. Also, love a good teen romance, horror, mystery, but not super-dark.
Children's NF at all levels: curriculum tie-ins, PB bios, multicultural history, science, sports, pop culture.

I'll send out some more in-depth #mswl tweets next week, but in the meantime, two things I'd really love to see more of in my inbox are dual timeline narratives and crime / mystery novels, historical or contemporary. Send 'em!

The first few eps of #marvelousmrsmaisel have put me in the mood for a historical novel set in Paris... BUT I want it to have suspense/mystery elements, and lean literary in style. Universe, halp?! #MSWL

In Mystery, Tana French is my favorite. I’d love mysteries with writing elevated to her level, but really I’m looking for ANYTHING in mystery. From procedurals to regular old mysteries, psychological thrillers. Suspense like Susan Furlong!(Excluding spy books, please). #MSWL

In YA, I’m mainly looking for contemporary or mystery (more tk) stories. Books like Crow Flight or Abigail Johnson’s books. I worked on and love Laura Taylor Jamey’s THE LIBRARY OF LOST THINGS. pic.twitter.com/6xusQ24OjmI also love speculative elements that run the gamut from DRY to STRANGER THINGS. Ultimately, I like stories grounded in our reality, no matter a spec element. #MSWL
