A little fall submission #MSWL! At the top of my list is YA contemporary realistic that is emotional and layered and classic coming-of-age. This summer I loved Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian and We Are Okay by Nina LaCour. Two different books that really got it.
Thao Le (currently closed to queries) @ThaoLe8I'm still dying for a Count of Monte Cristo retelling. Genderbend it. LGBTQ it. Make it contemporary. Or fantasy. I'm down for it! #mswl
I basically like revenge plots a whole lot. Especially when it's a long con type thing and the right people get their justice! #mswl
Contemporary, emotional love stories
Sweeping historical fiction
Smart, elevated thrillers
Novels in verse
Picture books with STEM hooks
Anything else that’s voice driven, literary, and innovative!

still on NA:
I really want a ballet book in NA contemp romance where both love interests are dancers in the same company - even better if they are rivals of some sort
this can be f/f, m/m, or m/f
#MSWL I’m drawn to high-concept commercial fiction with a literary flair! I also love a funny MG voice. I want all the YA & MG (contemporary, sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal). Yes to spooky MG and coming age. Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense, (Secular and Inspirational).
still on YA:
*mystery/thrillers w/ atypical narrative structure and/or mixed media formats
*paranormal that feels fresh
*anything with a high-stakes plot
*fairytale retellings that feel fresh
*smart contemporary that makes me laugh and cry
John Cusick @johnmcusickSo before it gets too late, let's do some #MSWL tweets!
Also still wanting my bayou witches like Misty in AHS. Looking for realistic and well researched Voodoo/Hoodoo. Witches/Conjurers/Weilders in general, really #MSWL This can be historical, fantasy, urban fantasy, contemporary, just GIMME
YA fantasy that feels grounded in a contemporary setting and focuses on the lives of teens in highly relatable ways but with magical or speculative components. But not ones that feel urban fantasy. It's a narrow window, I know. #MSWL
dongwon @dongwonI love the idea of #MSWL day but I'm rarely looking for a very specific concept or type of book. I just want the book to be yours and yours alone. To be so specific you can see the whole world in its details. That said, here are a few things that are very top of mind for me:
Contemporary horror/thriller focused on the experiences of POCs. We live harrowing lives and ones that see the world from a different angle. Film/tv has done a great job of catching up to representing those experiences. I want more of it in books. #MSWL
