What I do love to see in the YA Contemporary field are thrillers, hauntings that can toe the line of horror without going overboard, rom-coms, friendship break ups, and grandparent relationships. I especially love to see all this with BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ characters. #mswl

Platonic friendship stories, a la The Half of It. Even if one side kind of likes the other, the friendship here is what really drove this story home, and the sacrifices and compromises they made in order to keep it and do right by each other. MORE please. ❤️ #MSWL

In addition to this, my favorite Romance tropes are best friends to lovers; enemies to lovers; we're stuck together and you drive me crazy, but I guess I love you trope; unrequitted lover who finds a better fit trope, and forbidden love that becomes a HEA trope. <3 #MSWL

In adult romance, I’m really looking for phenomenal writing, but there’s definitely a few tropes I adore. One of which is the best friends to lovers trope right now! #MSWL Give me Friends with Benefits redone!

#MSWL MG Diverse and LGBTQIA+ voices. Middle grade is really some of the toughest years of my life, and anything that can help them realize it's okay to be different, is helpful. Love ghost stories and stories of crushes and friendship at this age.

I second this #MSWL. I'd totally also be down for a historical where a woman is married and knows her husband is in love with another man, but they're best friends, so she helps him hide it from the public, or vice versa. Read one like this once and am still in love with it.
